The story of Kenton Renton

Hey everyone! Thank you for the emails. It looks like our family consists of travelers this week. So fun. If you ever make it out my way feel free to drop by and I will give you a tour of Kirtland! This week has been really good. Transfers are this week and Sister Gee and I are staying together in Painesville. Yippeee!!!!! We are teaching a girl named Fatima (we have been teaching her off and on since November). She is really progressing. Her baptismal date is May 11th! Also start planning on Mother's day. I get to Skype home! Yay!!!!

About 3 weeks ago Sister Gee and I had a 23 year old man come on to Mormon.org chat. He said that he was really struggling and he needed help. He said that he was googling a bunch of different things, trying to find help and he came across Mormon.org chat. He said that his girlfriend was about to have a baby and that he is addicted to Meth and he really wants to get off Meth so that he can be a good father to this baby. He said that the mom is a really good girl and doesn't do drugs and doesn't even drink. That's good! We started teaching him how Jesus Christ can help him. We made a deal with him that we would go off sugar if he would go off Meth. He has been clean for 3 weeks and so have Sister Gee and I. We have been chatting back and forth with him ever since. Since then we have taught him about prayer. He loves praying. He can really feel that it makes a difference in his life. Because he is clean he was able to move in with his girlfriend. She had the baby about a week ago and he has loved having a family. His girlfriend is really, really glad that he has found our church because he has made such a drastic change in his life. We have helped Kent come up with a plan for his life and what type of father he wants to be. One day we got on to chat with him and he said that he found the Book of Mormon on our website and he has already started reading it and he loves it. He is such a great guy. How cool is that? We taught him about the law of chastity and he committed to it. He sleeps on the couch while his girlfriend sleeps in the bed. YAY!!! He is planning on this week asking her to marry him because he has a goal of getting married in the Temple so they can be sealed forever!!!!!!!! So cute!!! Here are some emails we got from him this week. He is really progressing. Tomorrow we are planning on starting to teach his girlfriend, Jennifer. Ps his son's name is Jeremiah.

Becca and Lacee: We got most of my stuff moved in. My friend Zane was willing to help so that was kind of him. Yea I read a bit of the Book of Mormon today. Jennifer Jeremiah and I had our first family prayers before bed.  It went really well. I love family prayers...haha but dang that kid ain't got a sleep schedule yet. He wakes up a lot. Jennifer is still somewhat sore so I been learning how to bottle feed him...I love feeding him. Gosh this kid can eat! I feel like he always hungry. lol I've had the day off so it has been great to spend time with my new family. Thank you so much for helping me turn my life around. I don't know where I would be without ya'll. I would probably be in jail or dead in a ditch.

Kent

Becca and Lacee:Hey! Ha yea its crazy being a dad but its weird I wouldn't change it for the world. Its crazy too because its almost like Jeremiah is my new addiction if I can be allowed to think of it that way. Well I am getting ready to take Jennifer and little man to lunch because I have to close at the warehouse tonight from 3 until close. But I'll have some time tmrw after 5 my time if that works to chat. Yea I have been reading the Book of Mormon more. I even worked it into my daily schedule to read before I get things started. Family prayer actually was awesome last night! Jennifer talked to me a little bit about being raised in a baptist church setting. She was totally stoked that I found church. We may find ourselves involved more in your church. Have a good day. Thank you so much for everything!

Kent

Becca and Lacee: Yes I have without a doubt noticed that reading the Book of Mormon and praying makes me happy. Although Jennifer says she prefers to read from the Holy Bible...she does seem happier with me and the fact that I'm changing. She was a bit disappointed that I didn't want to join her for church this morning at her baptist church but I'm just not quite there yet and I think she respected it but was a bit unhappy with me about that. I will ask her tonight about giving her email address to you guys. I think she will like learning from ya'll.  I'm actually happy today I am on office duty at work. Meaning I just have to keep inventory updated online for most of my shift and send out email orders so it shouldn't be too bad tonight...plus I can check my email with u guys off and on today. :)

Kent

Isn't Kent so great. He has come so far. 3 weeks ago he didn't even know who Jesus Christ was or how to pray. Now he is reading the Book of Mormon and praying and setting a goal to have an eternal family!! We mailed him a package today. We sent him two paper Book of Mormons (so he doesn't have to read it online), some movies about parenting, a Lamb of God dvd, a family proc and a bunch of other things. Missions are so great! It is so cool that I have helped a family that lives all the way in Colorado come together and be able to live together forever!!!!

Will each of you pray for Kent, Jennifer, Jeremiah and Fatima? I love you all and I miss you! Can't wait to see your faces on Mother's day!

Hide yo kids, hide yo wife... We're goin gangsta

Hello everyone! Thank you to those who emailed me this week. I really do love getting emails and mail from everyone. This weekend I was able to watch all of conference (well all except the last hour of Sunday morning session because we had to give a tour of Kirtland). On Saturday Sister Gee and I went to our ward to watch it. We expected lots of people to be there. I remember going to watch conference at the ward in Texas and tons of people were there. However, we were the only ones there. We had packed a "conference" bag (ya know with our blankets, snacks, drinks, projects to work on, fuzzy socks) and said we would only bring in the conference bag if no one else is there. We have to look professional in front of the members. We had such a good set up in the chapel. It was a lot of fun.

Do ya'll remember back in December when Sister Hansen and I were teaching the Pina family? Well they are back in business. This time it is only Cynthia (she is 14) and Fatima (she is 21). Fatima has 2 kids ages 3 and 9 months. Fatima lives with her boyfriend. Fatima and Cynthia are sisters. I love them both so much. Fatima loves learning from us. She is amazing. We are teaching them tonight and we are going to invite them to be baptized!!!!!! Please pray for Cynthia and Fatima. We are also hoping that Fatima's boyfriend Jose jumps on board.

This week has been really good at Kirtland. I have been really studying the history of everything that has happened here so that I can give really good, powerful tours. I have been studying a lot about the Whitney family. I am so surprised that they are never talked about when church history is being taught. Study about Newel and Elizabeth Whitney. They are so cool!!!

I had a really funny experience on Saturday. We had an appointment with a girl we have been off and on teaching named Markiesha. When we got there she was asleep. Boo!!!!! As we were getting in the car to leave we saw her cousin Bixxie walking up. Now I have had a few good conversations with him in the past. He is the neighborhood's main drug dealer. We started talking with him and asking him how he was doing and stuff. I think he was on something because he was going off about us church girls always comin around and always askin him how he is doing and what's new. After about 5 mins two other black guys walk out of a neighbor's house and I totally knew them. They are sons of a less active that's in the ward. I had met them about a month ago with Sister Bell. They walked over and they were like "Yo whut up it's the church girl Miss Frampton." Bixxie was so confused that I knew his friends and Sister Gee was just rolling her eyes because it seems like I know all of the gangstas in our area. We started talking with them and catching up on how their mom was and how they were doing. They had another friend join up with them that I didn't know. Bixxie was getting annoyed and he said "ya'll can keep talking with us but I don't wanna hear any church talk." Alright that was the plan- just to get them comfortable talking with us and then maybe the next time we'll talk church. They said that it used to be weird to see me (a white girl) hangin out in the ghetto but now they are used to it because they see me all the time just walkin around. Their friend Odin started asking us questions about our church and Bixxie was getting all mad. Odin calmed him down by saying "it's alright man if we talk religion. No harm done. Relax!" Odin had some really great questions for us! He had questions that go right along with the Restoration. He kept saying "i'm not trying to disrespect ya'll but how do you know to trust the men of your church? They are men. How do you they aren't just making things up?" He was so interested in how men have changed the Bible and how men have been teaching whatever they want to teach. We ran to our car and grabbed two restoration pamphlets. We sat down on the concrete and taught him the first lesson. It was so cool. We taught him just enough that he would still have some questions and want to keep talking with us. He gave us his number and we are going to talk again!! It is so cool how when things don't work out (Markiesha flaming out lesson bc she was asleep) that the Lord always has another plan.

Ok well my companion is hovering over me and she is ready to go! I love you all so much! Thanks for all you do!

"mmm... Jesus tastes good."

Happy Easter everyone! I am jealous that the weather in Utah has been so warm!!! It is so cold and yucky here. According to Sister Atley (my favorite 89 year old Mayan Indian) it doesn't warm up here until the end up May. I guess I just need to buckle up until then.
For Easter we went to a 7:30 am devotional at the Kirtland Temple. The Community of Christ put it on. It was good but a bit strange. Also a really loud trumpet was involved during the service. Nice. We went to church, had an intense Easter egg  hunt at the Kirtland Historic Sites and then the 6 of us that live together dyed eggs and had an egg roll. It was so much fun. Of course I got out on the first round. Nothing new there. (videos to come)

Some quick highlights of the week:
A 24 year old guy named Kent came onto chat with Sister Gee and I. He said that he has hit rock bottom and he really wants to find God and turn his life around. We had a really good chat with him. It lasted about 2 hours. We taught him all about Jesus Christ. He knew nothing about him. He really liked learning from us. We taught him how to pray and we waited while he prayed on the other end of the computer. He prayed and said that he loved how he felt. We set up another appointment with him for the next day and we had another really good chat with him. We found out that he was about 2 days sober from Meth and that he is having a really hard time coming off of it. Sister Gee committed both her and I to go off of sugar while he is going off of Meth so we can also experience with drawls and cravings so we could relate to him. (Thank you Sister Gee) So since last Wednesday we have been off sugar. I really can relate to Kent. We are calling him tomorrow to see if he made it to church yesterday. Pray for Kent.

Ok here is the best thing that has happened my whole mission. Get ready folks...
On Friday we had dinner at a member's house. It is a bit of a sketchy member but whatever. He is a single dad and has 2 sons about ages 8 and 11. We can't eat there alone with him so we always bring our trusty best friend Sister Atley. He made us an Easter feast- it actually was really good. Lamb (baa baa) (When he turned and looked the other way I hurried and put mine back. I just couldn't do it. Mary had a little lamb...), potatoes, asparagus, broccoli. Before he lets us eat he says "The reason we are having this meal is because it is symbolic. Do you know why it is symbolic?" One of the boys shouts "Because Jesus is a lamb." The dad says "Why yes Joey Jesus is the lamb." All of the sudden Joey takes a huge chomp of Lamb and with his mouth so full he says "Mmmm Jesus tastes good." Sister Gee and I were pinching each other under the table and trying so had not to laugh. The dad said "Ya Lehi said that the gospel is delicious to the taste." WHATTT???? They dad is just goin with it. I tried to bring it all back to reality and I chimed it "Well it's kinda like the sacrament. We aren't really eating Jesus." No one even heard my comment because the boys were saying how good Jesus tastes. The second we got in the car Sister Gee and I bursted out in laughter.

Well I  hope everyone is doing good. Thanks for the emails this week. I love getting mail in my mail box so just to remind everyone my address is:
